The British singer-songwriter, who is known to be an <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/what-football-team-does-ed-sheeran-support/3lv6mbpi5v571gzxfbdatscj0" target="_blank">ardent Ipswich Town fan</a>, became emotional after the club <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/ipswich-premier-league-kieran-mckenna-championship-promotion-leeds-fall-short/blt6f234c29a98b9c57#cs7596bc971b9d413e" target="_blank">returned to the Premier League,</a> ending a 22-year exile. The Tractor Boys comfortably defeated Huddersfield 2-0 in their final match of the season to seal second place in the Championship behind Leicester City.

After Ipswich's triumph, Sheeran took to Instagram to share his joy and he can be seen teary-eyed while celebrating in the video he posted. In the story, he wrote: "Back to back promotions. Kieran McKenna's side, who had only gained promotion to the second tier last season, has now achieved consecutive promotions to return to top-flight football after more than two decades.
