<p>Klopp has been linked with a number of jobs since stepping down from his role as Liverpool coach during the summer. The German <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/usmnt-officials-held-multiple-meetings-jurgen-klopp-before-honing-in-on-mauricio-pochettino-manager-role/blte110eae3beeeba2b" target="_blank">held meetings to discuss taking over as the head coach</a> of the United States national team but <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/jurgen-klopp-rejects-u-s-soccer-usmnt-head-coach/blt26892c834a432226" target="_blank">turned down the post</a> before Mauricio Pochettino was appointed. Klopp has also <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/jurgen-klopp-claims-taking-england-job-biggest-loss-of-face-history-football-ex-liverpool-boss-breaks-silence-future/bltc3f97a3b3c3b22b9" target="_blank">dismissed the notion of taking over as England coach</a> following Gareth Southgate's exit after Euro 2024.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The 57-year-old has since also been mentioned as a possible successor to Julian Nagelsmann as Germany boss, with the nation's sports director <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/jurgen-klopp-sporting-director-former-liverpool-boss-top-target/blt9a0a2b31b83e9e1e" target="_blank">Rudi Voller suggesting Klopp would be welcomed into the role</a> "if he wants" it.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>However, the ex-Borussia Dortmund coach has said he hopes that the current incumbent stays in the role beyond his current contract, which expires after the next World Cup. Speaking as he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Klopp said: "Everyone hopes that Julian Nagelsmann will do this much, much longer than until 2026."</p>

WHAT KLOPP SAID

<p>Klopp has been out of the game for just a few months and it is not yet known if he will return to coaching any time soon. Nagelsmann's Germany team, meanwhile, come up against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League on October 11, followed by a clash with Netherlands three days later.</p>
