<p>Higuain opted to bring the curtain down on his career with a spell in MLS, as he joined Inter Miami as an expansion franchise in 2020. He scored 29 goals across two years, making him the club’s all-time leading scorer until <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/inter-miami-extend-lionel-messi-s-teammate-leonardo-campana-contract-to-2027/blt3a9b67c30fc266d3" target="_blank">Leonardo Campana recently passed that mark</a>.</p>

<p>Messi is expected to surge past it as well, as the eight-time Ballon d’Or looks to make more history, and he is linking up again with Higuain in the United States – with the former frontman still only 36 years of age. He has rejoined the Herons as part of the backroom team with Inter Miami II.</p>
