Rodrygo Vinicius Junior hug Copa del Rey 2022-23

Real Madrid player ratings vs Osasuna: Vinicius Junior & Rodrygo carry club to silverware in Copa del Rey final triumph

Rodrygo bagged a brace, while Vinicius Junior ran riot to lead Real Madrid to a 2-1 win over Osasuna, the duo working in tandem to rescue an otherwise unsteady performance as Madrid won their first domestic cup in almost 10 years.

Vinicius Junior set up the opener for Madrid two minutes into the action, winding through three Osasuna defenders before feeding Rodrygo, who guided his finish into the bottom corner. But both sides had chances in the first half. David Alaba smacked a swerving free-kick off the bar from 30 yards out. Osasuna threatened with Ruben Pena seeing an effort cleared off the line.

Osasuna eventually pulled one back, as former Madrid midfielder Lucas Torro smashed a shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards out.

Rodrygo crushed Osasuna's hopes of silverware, though, grabbing a 70th-minute winner with an opportunistic chip after the ball bounced around in the Osasuna box.

Despite Rodrygo's brace, this was Vinicius Junior's night. The winger was electric all evening, tormenting an Osasuna back four that was simply devoid of answers. By the end he was pivoting, darting and nutmegging for fun - a truly world class performance from a player who embraces the big games.

Los Blancos have dropped out of the La Liga title picture this year, and need to look elsewhere for trophies. On Saturday, they secured one. With the Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester City upcoming, attention quickly turns to the next task.
