Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney & Wrexham sent 'stay in England' warning amid talk of exploring route into Europe

<p>The Red Dragons are one of four Welsh sides plying their trade in the English Football League – along with Cardiff, Swansea and Newport. As things stand, said quartet are prevented from taking part in the Welsh Cup and competing for domestic glory in the country that they call home.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>That situation may be about to change, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/european-dream-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-wrexham-conference-league/bltab39f881004c2b1f" target="_blank">discussions taking place regarding a reintroduction of sides from the EFL</a>. Those discussions have been well received at Wrexham, as success in the Welsh Cup secures qualification for the UEFA Conference League.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Reynolds, McElhenney and Co have, however, been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/phil-parkinson-amazing-wrexham-experience-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-european-dreams-premier-league-promotion/blteba00e12bc0d5d63" target="_blank">urged to stay in their lane</a>. Marc Lloyd Williams – the Cymru Premier's all-time record goalscorer – has told <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c62dwxdjglko " target="_blank"><em>BBC Radio Wales</em></a>: "I am not sure what the [Cymru Premier] clubs think about it. For me, the four clubs made the decision to play in England, so stay in England. Don’t try and take those European spots off the Cymru Premier teams. It is their bread and butter, week in, week out."</p><p>"Swansea, Cardiff, Wrexham and Newport are in the Football League and the FA Cup and EFL Cup. They have got a chance to play Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal with a home tie and get big crowds in. Just because TNS have qualified for Europe, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Cardiff or Swansea or Wrexham or Newport would. For me, you can’t be having your cake and eating it. They have made their decision and I would be against them coming in."</p>
