Haiti striker Duckens Nazon, who played for Kerala Blasters in the recently concluded Indian Super League (ISL) season, has signed for English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long deal.
Nazon will get the chance to impress the Wolves' hierarchy by initially playing with the Under-23 squad. Wolves also have the option of extending his deal by another year if the 22-year-old striker manages to shine during the spell. The Haitian was a free agent after leaving The Tuskers following the conclusion of the ISL season.
Blasters' Prieto and Delhi's Doblas find new clubs
Nazon made 12 appearances for Kerala Blasters in the 2016 ISL season and managed to score 2 vital goals, including one in the second-leg of Blasters' semifinal against Delhi Dynamos.
After initially falling out of favour with Blasters' head coach Steve Coppell, he managed to force his way back into the Englishman's plans and was a regular fixture in the latter phase of the tournament for the Men in Yellow. He also started the final against Atletico de Kolkata which ended in heartbreak for the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned side.
After the move was completed, Nazon spoke to Wolves' official website and revealed that playing in England was always his dream. He said, "I’m very happy, it’s an amazing thing for me. I’ve played in India for three months and now I’ve come back to fulfil my dream of playing in England."
The pacy youngster has represented his nation 16 times and also featured in the 2016 Copa America Centenario edition, held in USA. He has 5 international goals to his credit.
This move represents a huge step for the youngster, who follows the likes of Colombian striker Stiven Mendoza who managed to land himself a move to Brazilian club Corinthians and later to MLS club LA Galaxy after impressing in the ISL with Chennaiyin FC.
