Having impressed in La Liga, Porto opted to draft him back into their plans last season.

Reyes was to suffer an unfortunate hamstring injury, though, which dashed his World Cup 2018 dream.

Various landing spots were mooted for the defender following his release by Porto, with there talk of Premier League interest from the likes of Newcastle, Watford and West Ham.

Fenerbahce have seen off those rivals to secure Reyes’ signature, with the official signing of a contract having been staged on Saturday.

He will now form part of a squad looking to recapture the Turkish Super Lig crown under the guidance of Dutchman Phillip Cocu.
