United States announces May friendly against Bolivia

The United States men's national team will head to Chester, Pa. to face off against Bolivia in May, kicking off a set of three friendlies this summer, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday.

The match on May 28 at 7 p.m. ET will take place at Talen Energy Stadium, home of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union.

Previously the U.S. announced friendlies on June 2 in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland and June 9 in Lyon against France.

"With the addition of the Bolivia game, we have a great set of experiences on the table for our young players this summer," interim U.S. head coach Dave Sarachan said. "Bolivia presents different challenges than Ireland and France."

Bolivia, currently 47th in the FIFA World Rankings, missed the World Cup after finishing ninth of 10 teams in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

All time, the U.S. is 1-2-4 against Bolivia, with the last match between the two countries coming in a friendly in the lead up to the 2016 Copa America Centenario.

The next match for the U.S. is against Paraguay on March 27 in Cary, N.C.

After missing out on the 2018 World Cup, and being exempt from CONCACAF Nations League qualification due to its placement in the Hexagonal, the U.S. will not play another competitive match until the 2019 Gold Cup.
