There is no respite for Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side. For several years, they have watched their Premier League rivals succeed at their expense, while they have failed to go far in the Champions League. While they always show promise initially, they never fail to crumble and disappoint themselves and supporters.
With his contract running out at the end of the season and the Frenchman possibly bringing an end to his tenure in north London, Wenger would have hoped things would be different heading into Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first-leg.
They have been eliminated at that stage in each of the last six years but, faced with a Bayern Munich side who have failed to live up to the hype, there seemed reason to be optimistic.
However, Arsenal reverted to type in the second half as they crumbled to a 5-1 thrashing - and the Twitter taunts were as ruthless and unforgiving as ever.
Next up for Arsenal is a trip to Sutton United in the FA Cup fifth round, where defeat would definitely mark a new point in Arsenal's spiralling season.
