Wrexham continued their promotion charge on Saturday with a comfortable win over Exeter City.The question remains, though, over the form and fitness of Paul Mullin; the previously key striker began the game on the bench and he remains stuck on just one goal in League One this season. Without him leading the line, there was a potency and fluency to Phil Parkinson's side as they eased to victory.The hosts were ahead within seven minutes; after a fast start that saw them rack up a number of early corners, Max Cleworth nodded in Elliot Lee's delivery to give the Welsh side a deserved lead.Lee thought he had doubled Wrexham's lead from another set-piece, but his goal was ruled out for a foul in the build-up, and it instead fell to Ollie Palmer to score his side's second as he headed home after a brilliant ball from Ryan Barnett.In the second half, Oliver Rathbone added a third to all but seal the three points, once again heading home a superb delivery, this time from James McClean.Mullin came on late on and volleyed over from close-range, another frustrating finish in a run that has seen him struggle to recapture the form that saw him score 24 goals in League Two.

Wrexham's gameplan was spot on, so one has to credit Phil Parkinson on the touchline. The boss saw his side score three powerful headers from three superb deliveries; Exeter could not deal with the aerial bombardment the Welsh side unleashed, and were thumped as a result.

Do Wrexham even need Mullin?! He was not introduced until the 70th minute here, with Wrexham already 2-0 up and Ollie Palmer leading the line superbly, and he has only scored one league goal this season. It may be sacrilege to suggest it, but Wrexham might well be moving on from the 30-year-old.

THE BIG LOSER

Wrexham face fellow promotion hopefuls Lincoln City on Tuesday, before a clash with Barnsley seven days later.
