It would seem to leave Luis Enrique's side shorthanded ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, but the manager has insisted that the Parisians will improve without their superstar.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In a press conference, <a href="https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2024/next-season-well-have-a-better-team-luis-enrique-believes-psg-will-be-stronger-despite-expected-kylian-mbappe-departure/" target="_blank">Luis Enrique elaborated on the Ligue 1 leaders' prospects</a> when Mbappe leaves: "I know that if everything goes well, next season, we will have a better team from all perspectives: offensively, defensively, tactically. I have no doubt about it."

WHAT LUIS ENRIQUE SAID

Mbappe informed the Parisians that he plans to leave the club in early February, and has reportedly verbally agreed on a long-term contract to stay in Madrid. PSG have already been linked with a number of replacements, including <a href="https://www.goal.com/lists/ersatz-fuer-kylian-mbappe-bei-psg-es-gibt-nur-eine-angemessene-loesung/blt55c07771a4ba58d8" target="_blank">Rafael Leao</a>, Victor Osimhen and <a href="https://www.goal.com/lists/man-utd-cash-in-misfiring-marcus-rashford-replacing-kylian-mbappe-psg-perfect-transfer/bltdc17728c7f83d2a6" target="_blank">Marcus Rashford</a>.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The French forward may be leaving at the end of the campaign, but he will still have a role to play for the Parisians. Mbappe seems poised to appear in the starting XI as his side take on Monaco on Friday, before attention turns to the Champions League last 16 clash with Real Sociedad.
