<p>According to <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/04/03/arsenal-nico-williams-transfer-top-earner-athletic-bilbao/" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a>, the 22-year-old's representatives would expect him to be earning a similar amount at Arsenal to Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka - all of whom are said to receive around £250,000 a week.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Williams was linked with Arsenal and Barcelona last year but <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/nico-williams-explains-arsenal-transfer-snub-reveals-deep-love-athletic-club/blt914ec2861025f5ea" target="_blank">ultimately snubbed their interest</a>. However, the Gunners are <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/new-arsenal-transfer-chief-andrea-berta-meeting-nico-williams-athletic-club-winger-release-clause/blt1525067bf4ebafc1" target="_blank">renewing their efforts</a> to sign the speedy winger, who reportedly has a €60 million (£50m) release clause. The north London team have tried to reduce their wage bill in recent years but it seems that would not be possible if they signed Williams. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The report states that the Euro 2024 winner is on significantly more than £100,000 a week after tax at Athletic, so this would be a big jump up for the youngster if he joined Arsenal.</p>
