Mohamed Salah sensationally snubbed for African Player of the Year award despite Liverpool heroics as Ademola Lookman beats Serhou Guirassy and Achraf Hakimi to prize

<p>The 2024 Men’s Player of the Year award was given out during Monday's ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco. Brighton's Simon Adingra, Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy and Paris Saint-Germain's Achraf Hakimi were in contention along with Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams. However, there was no room on the shortlist for Salah despite his continued brilliance with Liverpool.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Salah has previously picked up the prize in 2017 and 2018 but there will be a new name on the trophy this time around.
