Goals from Ollie Palmer, Elliot Lee, and Jack Marriott secured a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/wrexham-elliott-lee-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-shrewsbury-town-league-one/bltfd3529bef102c58b" target="_blank">comfortable win against local rivals Shrewsbury</a> at SToK Cae Ras on Saturday, lifting Wrexham to the top of League One. Despite picking up 13 points from a possible 15 so far, manager Parkinson is not getting carried away with their results this term.

WHAT HAPPENED?

He told <a href="https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/sport/24570001.wrexham-top-league-one-beating-shrewsbury-derby/" target="_blank">The Leader</a>: “It’s a great start for us, it really is. We’re pleased but five games in now, we know it doesn’t count for a great deal. But we have to be pleased with our work so far this season and now we can take a deep breath."

WHAT PHIL PARKINSON SAID

Despite sealing <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-promotion-league-one-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-forest-green-rovers-mk-dons-barrow/bltc8ffdccfc813e664" target="_blank">back-to-back promotions</a>, Wrexham were <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/relegation-battle-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-supercomputer-predicts-wrexham-turbulent-season-league-one-tom-brady-birmingham/bltfc27b2dfa9dc526d" target="_blank">expected to struggle a bit more in League One</a> this season. However, their flying start means that promotion to the Championship for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's could be a possibility - albeit it is very early in the season.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wrexham take a break from League One action on Tuesday when they take on League Two team Salford City in the EFL Trophy, before travelling to promotion hopefuls Birmingham City in the English third-tier on Saturday.
