<p>Ancelotti watched his side go down <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-player-ratings-vs-ac-milan-kylian-mbappe/blt4f0e0c1cf54a3fde" target="_blank">3-1 at home to AC Milan</a> in the Champions League on Tuesday, a result which followed their 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico. Real Madrid have now lost two of their four games in the European competition this season and are nine points adrift in La Liga, giving the 65-year-old major cause for concern.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>One of the issues that many believe to be impacting Los Blancos <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/kylian-mbappe-never-no-9-carlo-ancelotti-told-held-prisoner-by-real-madrid-striker-bench-champions-league-ac-milan/blt044d9101f65b712f" target="_blank">stems from Mbappe</a>. The French striker has scored one goal in his past six games and some, including Karim Benzema, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/not-good-as-9-vinicius-junior-the-best-karim-benzema-tells-kylian-mbappe-forget-important-real-madrid-advice/blt946cdc1437d2b050" target="_blank">insist he isn't being played in his best position</a>. But Ancelotti was quick to erase fears that his arrival has disrupted the harmony within the dressing room.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>"No, the dressing room is healthy," Ancelotti told Movistar after the defeat to Milan. "There'll be a lot of criticism, about our attitude, training... What critics think, we have to accept. We aren't doing well. We want to do better. Like this it's hard to get to the end of the season. Each year, there are difficult moments where you have to struggle, fight, think. What isn't normal is that this team had a good run, and has fallen very fast. That's part of football. When you think everything is perfect you fall, but the good thing about football is that you can react."</p><p>Madrid have conceded nine goals in their past three games and Ancelotti insists his biggest concern lies with his defence.</p><p>"We had a lot of chances. The problem for me isn't that," he added. "Probably we lacked being clinical, but the main problem we have to fix is how easily our opponents are creating opportunities. We should be worried because the team isn't playing well. We have to be more solid, more compact. We've conceded a lot of goals. The reality is what you see on the pitch, which is that we're missing something. Worry in these moments is normal. It will be a long night, but that's what we have to do, think, all of us, about improving things. When you aren't solid, you have to be more organised. You can't say my players are lazy, but right now we aren't able to work together effectively."</p>

WHAT ANCELOTTI SAID

<p>Los Blancos host Osasuna in the league on Saturday in a match that is already nearing must-win territory, with Mbappe likely to retain his place in Ancelotti's starting XI despite his poor recent form.</p>
