WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The 23-year-old showed on Saturday a glimpse of the quality that was often on display during his previous four-year spell at the German outfit. After establishing himself as one of England's most promising players in the Bundesliga, he returned to his homeland to join Manchester United, but his time at Old Trafford did not go as planned. After being <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/jadon-sancho-erik-ten-hag-man-utd-training-performance-absence-squad/blt3ebd8ff619561a7b" target="_blank">banished from the first-team after a war of words with coach Erik ten Hag</a> he rejoined Dortmund on loan in January until the end of the season.</p>

<p>Sancho's move back to Dortmund got off to a strong start as he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/jadon-sancho-dortmund-man-utd-instant-impact/blt7554a2a82155bd32" target="_blank">registered an assist in his first game - a 3-0 win</a> against Darmstadt. Since then, however, he had failed to score or create a goal in the seven games he played ahead of the weekend's trip to Dortmund.</p>
