Trevoh Chalobah to train away from Chelsea first team as defender is targeted by Crystal Palace as potential Marc Guehi replacement after pre-season snub

According to <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/08/07/crystal-palace-transfer-chelsea-chalobah-25m-deal-guehi/" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a>, Chalobah and Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix are of interest to Palace - with the latter previously working under Eagles head coach Oliver Glasner. The report adds the former France Under-20 international is in the last year of his contract, while <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-name-trevoh-chalobah-asking-price-following-pre-season-tour-snub-three-premier-league-clubs-interested/blt12dbf0e9420b86e2" target="_blank">Chalobah may be available for approximately £25 million ($31.7m)</a>.

Chalobah has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/shambles-chelsea-trevoh-chalobah-pre-season-snub-everything-wrong-todd-boehly-ownership/blt4033888266d7a967" target="_blank">been in limbo</a> ever since being <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-ng/lists/enzo-maresca-chelsea-us-pre-season-tour-trevor-chalobah-left-out-squad/bltb6c7cbf1efaa79f8" target="_blank">left out of Chelsea's pre-season tour to America,</a> but their defensive issues have not gone away with his exclusion. A fresh start may be the best thing for his career, while Palace are looking to prepare themselves for a season without Guehi - who is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-bh/lists/newcastle-signing-marc-guehi-crystal-palace-announcement-expected-weekend/bltb6a7db18b840c75b" target="_blank">nearing a move to Newcastle</a>. The Eagles need to be careful, however, after already <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/michael-olise-speaks-out-decision-move-to-bayern-munich-after-completing-60m-move/bltf400aed154d1fc56" target="_blank">selling star winger Michael Olise to Bayern Munich</a> earlier this summer.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to the report, Chalobah will continue to train away from Chelsea's first-team squad with the club's youngsters following their return from America. The 25-year-old Blues academy product turned down a move to Nottingham Forest last year and still has four more years left on his Stamford Bridge contract.
