'It will not be long' - Werder Bremen hints at imminent debut for Sargent

Werder Bremen sporting director Thomas Schaaf says teenage striker Josh Sargent will likely make his senior debut soon.

Sargent signed with Bremen in February when he turned 18, but was not eligible to play for the club until this season.

Since making his debut in July the U.S. international has been impressing with the club's U-23 side, scoring five goals in eight appearances.

The striker also found the back of the net for the senior side in a friendly earlier this month, showing he isn't far off from contributing for the first team.

Speaking to Sport1, Schaaf confirmed as much, saying: "I think it will not be long. We know what we have with him."

Sargent played two friendlies with Bremen's first team earlier this month, with the Bundesliga club reaching an agreement with U.S. Soccer for Sargent to stay in Germany rather than join up with the U.S. national team for a pair of friendlies.

The Missouri native has already earned three senior caps for the United States, scoring one goal.
