Bastian Schweinsteiger has thanked the Manchester United staff for their support, highlighting one individual in particular for standing by him.
The 32-year-old is joining MLS side Chicago Fire in the coming days, with United confirming the German is to leave the club subject to a medical and international clearance.
It's proved to be a tumultuous 2016-17 campaign for Schweinsteiger at Old Trafford, with the midfielder having only made four appearances since the start of the season.
Manager Jose Mourinho had frozen out Schweinsteiger from his first-team plans, before eventually allowing him to rejoin training and handing him a substitute appearance against West Ham in November.
But the 32-year-old has now made the decision to leave the club, posting a tribute to fitness coach Paolo Gaudino on his Instagram page as he says his farewells.

Schweinsteiger wrote: "A big thank you to the entire staff, for everything you've done for me.
"Especially to my friend and PT Paolo for always standing by my side! Mille grazie!"
Schweinsteiger made a total of 35 appearances in all competitions for United since joining the club from Bayern Munich back in 2015.
