'The most beautiful craziness' - Lionel Messi celebrates one year since lifting the World Cup with Argentina

<p>Monday marked the anniversary of the South American nation's final victory against France, in which Messi scored twice as the two teams played out a 3-3 draw over 120 minutes in Qatar, taking the decisive clash to a penalty shootout which Argentina won 4-2.</p>

<p>Messi took to social media to commemorate their first World Cup win since 1986. He wrote on an Instagram post: "One year of the most beautiful craziness of my career. Unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime. WHAT MESSI SAID

<p>The 36-year-old was the star for Argentina as they went on to secure the third world crown in their history, despite losing 2-1 to Saudi Arabia in their first game of the competition. Messi scored seven goals overall, including two in the final, and finished a goal behind top scorer Kylian Mbappe, who fired in three goals against Argentina.</p>

<p>Inter Miami star Messi is gearing up for next year's MLS campaign, which is expected to kick off in late-February or early-March 2024. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner will likely be part of the Argentina team for next summer's Copa America in the United States.</p>
