The English midfielder waited for five days in the Spanish capital before heading back to London and joining the Blues' pre-season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Per the latest reports, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/joao-felix-chelsea-atletico-madrid-transfer-agreement-timeline-set-conor-gallagher/bltff5ebaee2b16b952#cs0552256787ab0fd2" target="_blank">Chelsea and Atletico are inching closer to an agreement</a> for Joao Felix and if the Portuguese's transfer gets completed, Gallagher will be free to join the Spanish club. Amid the uncertainty over the England international's future, Los Rojiblancos boss Diego Simeone hinted that his club could still sign some more players before the window shuts.

Speaking to reporters, the Argentine said, "The squad is not closed yet, and we know what we’re looking for and what we want. Work is being done to finalize the squad."
