The Dutchman has been involved in lengthy negotiations with the Foxes and is now poised to be appointed, potentially before their next fixture, which comes against Brentford this weekend.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Van Nistelrooy is available for no compensation after being <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ruud-van-nistelrooy-devastated-man-utd-exit-dutchman-rejected-manager-jobs-work-at-club-he-loves-most/blta9701d11eaba1a2a" target="_blank">removed from the United staff by Ruben Amorim</a>.
