<p>At their end-of-the-year media press conferences, the striker admitted that this offseason his goal is going to be a move abroad to Europe - despite his success at club level. During the 2023 campaign, Vazquez netted 21 times across all competitions for both club and country, and is now pushing for a new opportunity. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Vazquez missed out on a roster spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, despite a record-year. Earlier in the summer, he was linked with a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/usmnt-forward-brandon-vazquez-eur10m-borussia-monchengladbach-transfer-bundesliga-fc-cincinnati/bltb3154c3ec63609f4" target="_blank">Bundesliga switch to Borussia Monchengladbach,</a> but talks never progressed. Now, with the January transfer window less than a month away, he has his eyes and heart set on a move abroad. He's one of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/mls-playoffs-2023-european-transfers/blt05662cb1f850a649" target="_self">many MLS stars looking to make the transatlantic hop across the pond,</a> but both the landing spot and the price have to be correct for both parties to agree to the move. It will be a big offseason for Cincy, who will need to sign a replacement for Vazquez if he departs, while also locking down other roster reinforcements.</p>

<p>Prior to his commitment to the USMNT, Vazquez had eligibility for the Mexico national team. However, the federation said 'nothing' to the striker - a potential moment of regret for the Stars and Stripes' Concacaf rivals given his form since.</p>
