<p>The <em>It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia</em> co-creator, actor and writer had the script flipped on him when he paid a visit to the Classic Football Shirts shop in Manchester. Seemingly making a purchase, the Hollywood star was pulled into work a shift at the shop, hanging up shirts, putting signs out and serving customers.</p>

WATCH THE CLIP

<p>Wearing the iconic Netherlands jersey from Euro 1988, the Red Dragons chief appeared in a sketch for the shop's social media account, in which he dropped in to make a purchase, saying to the cashier: "Thank you, enjoy your shift!"</p><p>When the employee replied: "You too," McElhenney spun around in shock and was put to work.</p>

WHAT MCELHENNEY SAID

<p>McElhenney, 47, has become a famous figure in football since he and Ryan Reynolds purchased Wrexham in 2020, bringing worldwide fame to the club thanks to their media savvy and ability to bring in sponsorship and partnerships with huge companies, as well as creating the <em>Welcome To Wrexham</em> documentary series.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>After seeing his team collect <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-league-one-elliot-lee-ollie-palmer-paul-mullin-reading/bltbc795171a6d92c26" target="_blank">10 points from their first four League One matches</a>, McElhenney will hope to see them stay high up the league when they come up against Shrewsbury on September 9.</p>
