Prior to the first leg in Italy, Roma ultras displayed a controversial message aimed at the late Queen Elizabeth II, sparking controversy with the phrase "The Queen gave b******s." And Roma's commanding 4-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico further made it worse for the travelling fans.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Brighton faithful gave it back to the opposition as they responded to Roma's provocative banter with wit and humour, unfurling a banner at the Amex Stadium targeting Giallorossi legend Francesco Totti.The banner humorously claimed that Totti "loves pineapple on pizza," poking fun at the Italian football icon with a reference to a divisive pizza topping. While a staple in the United Kingdom, that pizza combination is thoroughly frowned upon in the Mediterranean country.

HOW DID BRIGHTON FANS RESPOND

Brighton's response extended beyond the stands, as their players churned out a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the Romans with Danny Welbeck firing a screamer into the top corner in the first half. His effort was in vain, however, as the Premier League outfit were beaten 4-1 on aggregate over the two legs, crashing out of their first ever European tournament at the last-16 stage.
