Man Utd demand £40m for Scott McTominay as Tottenham challenge Fulham to signing of Scotland midfielder

United rejected a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-utd-scott-mctominay-west-ham-talks-transfer/blt7100468c1eb2e147" target="_blank">£30m ($39m) bid from West Ham</a> for the Scotland international last summer before he went onto have his best ever season at Old Trafford - scoring 10 goals and providing three assists. Now, according to <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/29315701/scott-mctominay-man-utd-tottenham-transfer-fulham/">The Sun,</a> the 27-year-old is wanted by Tottenham and Fulham, but they will have to stump up at least £40m to secure his services.

WHAT HAPPENED?

United have already turned down an offer in the region of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/new-era-for-man-utd-red-devils-open-to-transfer-offers-for-long-serving-stars-as-west-ham-circle-and-fulham-see-bid-knocked-back/blt4d5784b50652c95e#csd993a9a3998d980f" target="_blank">£15m ($19m) from Fulham</a> but the Red Devils academy product is certainly a gettable target. In fact, United are <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-set-open-to-offers-most-squad-including-marcus-rashford/blted580ed2a1317bc8">open to bids for the majority of their first-team squad</a> as they try to bounce back from a poor season. Even though manager Erik ten Hag wants to keep McTominay, he may on the fringes next term.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The report adds United are considering selling McTominay to try and balance the books as they look to add to their summer spending spree of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/erik-ten-hag-joshua-zirkzee-learn-man-utd-ruud-van-nistelrooy-striker/blt1acb344f212d28a2" target="_blank">£36m ($46m) on striker Joshua Zirkzee</a> and defender Leny Yoro - who joined from <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/lille-threat-leny-yoro-gbp52m-man-utd-transfer/blt13efb100a5ad3d13#csc0f9a3f9478eb1a9" target="_blank">Lille for £52m ($67.9m)</a>.
