<p>The Merseyside club have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign under new manager Arne Slot, winning seven and losing one of their eight Premier League games thus far, leaving them one point clear of reigning champions Manchester City at the summit. For the first time in the 2024-25 campaign, the club faced a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/who-are-premier-league-big-six-top-english-clubs-nickname-explained/130iokmi8t8dt1k3kudou73s1k" target="_blank">'big six' club</a> and they passed the test with flying colours.</p>

Jadon Sancho, on the other hand, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-enzo-maresca-anfield-atmosphere-key-refereeing-decisions-go-against-blues-liverpool-defeat/blt13397608269c8806" target="_blank">was denied a spot-kick</a> after being tackled by Trent-Alexander Arnold inside the box. </p>
