The Portuguese superstar did <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/cristiano-ronaldo-first-lionel-messi-third-kylian-mbappe-forbes-highest-paid-athletes-chart-nba-nfl-superstars/blt2773c489e02ffa48" target="_blank">sign a contract through to the summer of 2025</a> when completing his stunning move to the Middle East early in 2023 – following his <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/ronaldo-on-purpose-man-utd-exit-strategy-stam-handled-better/blt9b32129c6b01c4a3" target="_blank">dramatic release by Premier League giants Manchester United</a>. There has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/contract-extension-cristiano-ronaldo-40-al-nassr-superstar-prolong-62-goal-stint-saudi-arabia/blt9b5fe85776a669ee" target="_blank">talk of that deal being extended</a>.

WHAT HAPPENED?

There have, however, also been rumours of Ronaldo taking on another challenge elsewhere in the latter stages of his remarkable career – with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner now 39 years of age. He did, however, show no sign of slowing down in 2023-24 as he<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/records-follow-me-cristiano-ronaldo-reacts-more-history-al-nassr-superstar-50-goals-season/blt6adf896e2fd67e6e" target="_blank"> registered 50 goals across all competitions</a>.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ronaldo broke the single season goal record in the Saudi Pro League, with 35 efforts to his name, and has become the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/proud-cristiano-ronaldo-thanks-man-utd-golden-boot-record-al-nassr-superstar-more-goalscoring-history/bltd1a95d73f71bd357" target="_blank">first man to claim Golden Boots in four different countries</a>. With that pedigree in mind, Al-Nassr CEO Guido Fienga has told reporters when quizzed on the future of CR7: “Cristiano Ronaldo's blood turned yellow. Of course he will continue at Al-Nassr next season.”

WHAT CEO SAID

Ronaldo missed out on major silverware in the campaign just gone, as he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/video-cristiano-ronaldo-tears-al-nassr-superstar-heartbroken-king-s-cup-final-defeat-al-hilal-neymar-lionel-messi-chants/blt749f5e19f838f2cd" target="_blank">finished the season in tears at the end of a gut-wrenching penalty shootout defeat</a> to Al-Hilal in the Kings Cup of Champions final. It would, however, appear that he will be back for more in 2024-25.
