According to Italian publication <a href="https://www.calciomercato.it/2024/05/01/conte-voglia-matta-di-tornare-si-e-proposto-a-unaltra-ex-esclusivo/" target="_blank">Calcio Mercato</a>, Conte has put the feelers out to convince his old club to recruit him after two eventful years at Stamford Bridge between 2016 and 2018. However, <a href="https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/rassegna-stampa/juventus-c-e-concorrenza-per-thiago-motta-sul-tecnico-del-bologna-anche-milan-e-chelsea-1963236" target="_blank">Tuttosport</a> claims Chelsea are keeping tabs on <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/thiago-motta-man-utd-juventus-linked-bologna-manager/blt681fe6cec3a4693b" target="_blank">Bologna's Motta, who has impressed at the Serie A side</a>.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Conte has not managed since leaving Tottenham by mutual consent in March 2023. He has won trophies as a manager with Chelsea, Juventus, and Inter but whether he returns to the west London outfit remains to be seen. While his style of play is seen as more defensive and counter-attacking, Motta may be viewed as a more progressive and offensive alternative.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Motta, who made a name for himself after playing for Barcelona, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain, took over at Bologna in September 2022 and after leading them to ninth last season, they are fourth this term.
