Yarmolenko planning to ask Premier League for his Man Utd goal back from Lindelof

West Ham’s Andriy Yarmolenko is planning to write to the Premier League requesting that he be awarded an effort against Manchester United which went down as a Victor Lindelof own goal.

The Ukraine international helped to record the Hammers’ second effort of the afternoon at the London Stadium as they downed the Red Devils 3-1.

Having collected possession from a corner, Yarmolenko worked the ball onto his left foot on the edge of the penalty area.

His subsequent shot looped up off Lindelof and over David de Gea, with United’s Swedish defender considered to have put through his own net.

Yarmolenko is not happy with that call and intends to argue his case to the relevant authorities, telling West Ham’s official website: "I don't know why it's not my goal, so I'll write later to the Premier League!

"I think it was a beautiful day for us, for the team and for the fans. It was a great win and we're happy.

"We played well. We played a more attacking game than we did against Chelsea and I thought it was a good game for us.

"We have many good players and we must think about the three points and not draws. Football is not only about defence. We must play on the front foot and play for three points."

Regardless of whether Yarmolenko is credited with a fourth goal of the season, he believes West Ham are heading in the right direction again after opening the 2018-19 campaign with four straight defeats.

He added: "We must take things step by step. Of course, today we must enjoy, but on Monday we must concentrate on the next one and we must we win that too!"

West Ham’s next outing, and last before the October international break, is set to see them travel to Brighton on Friday.
