<p>Lily Yohannes will forgo her eligibility to represent the Netherlands, and spend her international career with the USWNT, she announced Monday on <a href="https://x.com/LilyYohannes10/status/1855989039590981934" target="_blank">social media</a>.</p><p>The Ajax midfielder has already made one appearance for the USWNT, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/special-uswnt-lily-yohannes-debut-goal-emma-hayes-south-korea/blt462406f3ee8fdef9" target="_blank">where she found the net to become the third youngest goalscorer</a> in the country's history.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Her future had been the subject of much speculation, with the midfielder saying as recently as September that she had not decided whether to play for the Netherlands or U.S.</p><p>Players under 21 are still allowed to change countries if they have played fewer than four international matches.</p>

Their dedication and encouragement have been invaluable, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to both Federations.</p><p>"After much consideration, I have decided to commit to represent my country, the United States. The U.S. is my homeland, my birthplace, and where my extended family resides. These strong connections have driven me to honor my roots and proudly commit to U.S. soccer.
