It's that time of year again. The time when Liverpool look to unleash a few of their talented teenagers on the world.The early rounds of the Carabao Cup represent the perfect opportunity for that. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Caoimhin Kelleher and Harvey Elliott all earned their stripes that way, while last season saw the likes of Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley and Tyler Morton given chances to shine.Liverpool, of course, went on to lift the trophy, but we can expect a youthful Reds side as they begin their defence of it against League One outfit Derby County at Anfield on Wednesday night.<script type="application/json" data-placement="fcplayer-semantic">{"type":"fcplayer-semantic","data":{"embedCode":"//cdn.fcp.codes/embed-code-template/embed-code-template.js#SEMANTIC_5704afb8-c10b-4ba5-9cb4-d7fb6098ef90"}}</script>Here, GOAL takes a look at some of the youngsters who are likely to be involved...

Reds fans already like what they have seen from the 20-year-old, who joined from Fulham in the summer, in a deal which could eventually cost the Reds around £8 million ($9.2m).Carvalho has scored twice in the Premier League for Liverpool, including a memorable late winner against Newcastle in August, and has racked up 14 appearances in all competitions.A lovely footballer to watch, blessed with excellent touch and balance, as well as an eye for goal, the Portugal Under-21 international is almost certain to start against Derby.

Another summer signing, Ramsay has had to wait to launch his Reds career, picking up a back injury, which medics believe is linked to a growth spurt, shortly after his £4.5m ($5.2m) switch from Aberdeen in June.The 19-year-old has had a handful of run-outs with Liverpool's U21 side in recent weeks, however, and made his senior debut as a late substitute against Napoli earlier this month. Signed to provide back-up and competition to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back, the young Scot should get his first chance to really show what he can do against Derby.

"Sometimes the academy gives you a present, and he is one of them!" Assistant manager Pep Lijnders could hardly have sounded more enthusiastic when asked by GOAL on Tuesday about Bajcetic's development at Liverpool.<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/stefan-bajcetic-liverpool-teenage-star-take-over-fabinho-midfield/blt350f77e8f6b4f968" target="_blank">The 17-year-old has been a regular with the first-team this season</a>, appearing off the bench in both the Premier League and Champions League after catching the eye with Jurgen Klopp's squad in pre-season.Bajcetic, already an U19 international with Spain, has played as a centre-back but is seen by Liverpool as a holding midfielder, and one of serious potential too. "Stefan is a joy to watch," says Lijnders. "He has all the characteristics we search for as a midfield player."

Another who has spent plenty of time around the senior squad this season, 17-year-old Clark made his Premier League debut in the thrashing of Bournemouth in August, and has been one of the standout players in the Reds' UEFA Youth League side.His father, Lee, played in the Premier League for Newcastle and Fulham, and his son looks to be a chip off the old block; a versatile, energetic attacking midfielder who presses well, keeps possession and is capable of both scoring and creating goals.

He only joined Liverpool in the summer, and he doesn't turn 17 until Friday, but already there's a bit of a buzz about Doak, given his performances at academy level.The winger, signed from Celtic in a £600,000 ($694,000) deal, is the type that thrills spectators. He is ultra-direct, continuously running at defenders and happy to engage in the physical side of the game. He's already played first-team football in Scotland, and coaches at Liverpool believe he has both the talent and mentality to enjoy a fruitful career south of the border too. He's caught the eye pretty much every time he's played for the U21s and the U18s this season, will he be given a senior chance this week?

"We should see some Scousers!" promised Pep Lijnders on Tuesday, and if that is the case, then home-grown forward Stewart should be in line to feature.The 20-year-old has been with the Reds since the age of seven, and was on the bench when a young Liverpool side lost to Aston Villa in the League Cup quarter-final in December 2019.He's had to recover from a serious knee injury since then, which sidelined him for a year, but he returned towards the back end of last season and has featured regularly with the U21s this term. He's a sharp finisher around the box, and has an eye for the spectacular as well.

Layton Stewart

Another teenager who looks destined for a fine professional career, 18-year-old Chambers has been on the bench for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, and has been one of the most consistent players at academy level too.A left-back by trade, he has also played and performed well at both centre-back and in midfield. He's a lovely passer and crosser of the ball, defends well one-v-one and makes excellent decisions. Featured with the first-team during pre-season, and looks capable of having a very bright future with the club.

Luke Chambers

A European champion with England at U19 level, Warrington-born centre-back Quansah captained Liverpool's U18s in the FA Youth Cup final in 2021 and now regularly wears the armband for the U21s.Another who has been with the club for years, having joined at the age of five, the 19-year-old is developing well this season, adding strength and aerial presence to his ball-playing abilities. His partnership with Lee Jonas for the U21s and U19s has been impressive.

Jarell Quansah

An Ethiopia-born Germany youth international, Frauendorf made his senior Liverpool debut off the bench in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury last season, and has trained regularly with Jurgen Klopp's squad over the past 12 months.Known for his "off-the-scale" running stats, the 18-year-old, who joined from Hoffenheim in 2020, can play either as a winger or as No.8.

Melkamu Frauendorf

Another who has had to fight back from serious injury, attacking midfielder Hill spent close to two years on the sideline due to a series of issues, but was part of the Reds' first-team squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East in the summer.The 20-year-old played in that Aston Villa game in 2019, and made his return to action for the U21s at the weekend. Could an Anfield opportunity present itself for the Formby-born youngster? Few would deserve it more.

Tom Hill

Another young Scouser, and another to have featured in that game against Villa three years ago. Norris in fact became the fourth-youngest debutant in Liverpool's history that night, aged 16 years, eight months and 13 days.'Chuck', as he is nicknamed, can play as a left-back or in central midfield, offering energy and fine distribution in either position. He also appeared against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup last season.
