Ben Chilwell's injured again! Chelsea defender sits out Burnley clash after suffering issue on England duty

Per <a href="https://twitter.com/SJohnsonSport/status/1774077100867125726?s=20" target="_blank">Simon Johnson</a>, Chilwell sustained an injury on international duty, as he started both games for England against Brazil and Belgium. The exact nature of the problem is not known but the left-back has endured an injury-hit season thus far, being ruled out from October to December with a hamstring injury earlier this term.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Chilwell has made a total of 12 league appearances this season, registering just one assist, and his injury comes at an inopportune time for Chelsea as the run-in ratchets up. Mauricio Pochettino's are within reach of qualifying for either the Europa Conference League or the Europa League, but he will need a fully fit squad to turn around a team that are currently in the bottom half of the table.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chilwell has sustained seven injuries during his time at Chelsea, per <a href="https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-chilwell/verletzungen/spieler/316125" target="_blank">Transfermarkt</a>, and has missed a staggering 97 games since making the move from Leicester. It remains to be seen if he will be able to return to fitness quickly, or if he will miss a significant period of time.
