Quiet day for Christian Pulisic as AC Milan come from behind to break Frosinone's hearts with late Luka Jovic goal

What looked like a match that would see Milan cruise turned into something of a battle, as Frosinone never came close to rolling over against the Serie A title contenders.Milan scored early, seemingly seizing control with a 17th-minute goal from Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman headed home a far-post cross from Rafael Leao, setting up what felt like it could be a cakewalk.Frosinone, who entered the match 14th in Serie A, fought back, though, with a goal of their own seven minutes later. After a handball call in the box on Leao, Frosinone's Matias Soule stepped up and buried the ensuing penalty kick, leveling the score at 1-1.Frosinone made it 2-1 in the 65th minute and, to their credit, it was deserved. After going toe-to-toe with Milan throughout, the underdogs found their breakthrough, with Soule teeing up Luca Mazzitelli for the goal.Milan's quality then pushed through, however. Giroud was once again involved as he provided another powerful header, this time back across the line for Matteo Gabbia to tap home for the equalizer.Jovic would then come on to become the hero. An 80th minute substitute, Jovic scored just one minute later, earning Milan three massive points int he Serie A title race.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Jovic's late goal is a massive one for Milan, who remain in the Serie A title race after sweating out this result. With the win, Milan are on 49 points, four back of second-place Juventus, who are on 53 with a game in hand. Inter, meanwhile, have two games in hand, but lead Serie A with 54 points, giving them pole position in this three-horse race atop the Italian top flight.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Christian Pulisic was largely quiet as the other two-thirds of Milan's attack, Leao and Giroud, took centerstage. It wasn't a bad game for Pulisic, who had his moments, including one nice sequence later on to win a throw-in for Milan. However, there weren't many goal-dangerous sequences for the winger, who completed 21/29 passes and had just 44 touches.His USMNT teammate, Yunus Musah, came off the bench late with Milan looking to seal the result, replacing Giroud, who had done more than enough to put the Rossoneri in a position to win.
