Manchester City were in danger of heading for a third successive game without victory after a rapid counter-attack goal from Lois Openda cancelled out Phil Foden's goal and put RB Leipzig back on level terms in Wednesday's Champions League encounter.
But then Pep Guardiola called on his super-talented substitutes from the bench, and boy did they deliver. Julian Alvarez curled City back in front in the 85th minute with an awesome strike with almost no backlift, and then the Argentine teed up the electric Jeremy Doku, whose clinical finish clinched a 3-1 victory.
City have two wins from two in Europe and are already on track to reach the knockout stages. But they will be concerned with the form of Erling Haaland, who missed chance after chance and needed his strike partner to come off the bench and bail him out.
