<p>According to <a href="https://www.abola.pt/futebol/noticias/sporting-manchester-united-quer-reservar-ja-geovany-quenda-2024111621564662080" target="_blank"><em>A Bola</em></a>, United approached Sporting about the 17-year-old - even before they moved to sign <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/ruben-amorim-new-man-utd-head-coach-red-devils-confirm-appointment-portuguese-boss-start-date-delayed-two-weeks/blt557a09768631c671" target="_blank">new manager Ruben Amorim</a>. The report adds the Red Devils want to secure the teenager's services as soon as possible, with a summer transfer on the cards.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The report adds that before Quenda signed a contract extension until 2027 in September, the forward had a release clause of €45 million (£38m/$47m) but that has since risen to a whopping €100m (£84m/$105m) - the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bad-news-man-utd-viktor-gyokeres-january-transfer-plan-ruben-amorim-reunion-sporting-cp/blt0d88aa4bdb4c9902" target="_blank">same amount as team-mate Viktor Gyokeres</a>. Sporting expect the player will be their next 'big sale' and initial bids to sign him will have to be well north of €40m (£33m/$42m).</p>

<p>Following his switch from Sporting to United earlier this month, Amorim denied he would snap up his former players in the next transfer window, saying: "I won't be signing [Sporting players] in January, that's what I said."</p><p>He added: “I don’t know about the summer. The main thing is to hold on until the summer [laughs]. After that, we’ll see, Sporting’s players are very good players. I don’t know. We’ll see.”</p>

WHAT RUBEN AMORIM SAID

<p>The report adds Quenda - who has scored two goals in 17 games this term - could leave at the end of the season, but an agreement could happen before them if United convince him financially with a considerable offer.</p>
