In the ninth minute of stoppage time, Wolves captain Max Kilman scored what he thought was a late equaliser. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) suggested a replay, and referee Tony Harrington determined that Tawanda Chirewa was in an offside position and he was within the field of vision of West Ham goalkeeper Lucasz Fabianski and was therefore involved in the play. The decision to deny Wolves the late equaliser at Molineux was dubbed<a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/video-scandalous-gary-o-neil-biggest-ref-rant-of-season-wolves-fine-ban-var-disallowed-late-goal/blt502d00002a41ca49#cs2113309dbcb62991" target="_blank"> "possibly the worst decision I have ever seen" by O'Neil</a>.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On Thursday, <a href="https://twitter.com/FAspokesperson/status/1778362361281233343" target="_blank">the FA released the following statement</a>: "Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O'Neil has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.1 following the Premier League fixture against West Ham United on Saturday 6 April 2024."It's alleged that following the completion of the fixture, his language and/or behaviour in or around the match officials' changing rooms was improper and/or threatening."He has until Monday 15 April 2024 to respond to the charge."

WHAT THE FA STATEMENT SAID

The 2-1 loss means that Wolves now sit in 11th place in the Premier League and lost the chance to overtake both Chelsea and Brighton as O'Neil's side look to end their season in the top half of the table having had a poor start to the season.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Regardless of the charge, the Wolves boss will be fully focused on Wolves' next match against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on Saturday, April 13. He will have until Monday, April 15 to respond to the afforementioned charges.
