<p>The England international playmaker cut a frustrated figure after being replaced just past the hour mark in a meeting with the Gunners. United were trailing 1-0 when the decision was made to take Toone off, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-women-arsenal-player-ratings-melvine-malard-wsl-ella-toone-grace-clinton/bltaf70e9cc32cc1d48" target="_blank">Melvine Malard sent on in her place</a>.</p>

WHAT COMMENTATOR SAID

<p>The comment in question was made on an alternative feed to the one covering the game for the BBC, but has still been picked up by fans around the world – and WSL chiefs are taking a dim view. Toone and United will be back in action on Sunday when playing host to Aston Villa.</p>
