- Wrexham beat Sutton 2-1
- Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee scored
- Reynolds relieved after the win
WHAT HAPPENED? The Welsh outfit sealed a thrilling 2-1 victory in League Two with Elliot Lee firing into the net in the 89th minute after Paul Mullin opened the scoring. It was a dominant performance from Phil Parkinson's side in the first half but Sutton grew in stature after the break and equalised through Aiden O'Brien just before the hour mark. However, Lee turned out to be the super sub for Wrexham as he netted his ninth goal of the season to fire his side to third in the table, just five points adrift of leaders Stockport County. Reynolds, Hollywood actor and Wrexham co-owner, was over the moon after his side showed the character to clinch victory when it looked like they might have to share the spoils, but joked that his health is at risk after so many late goals this season. He wrote on X: "Handing out heart attacks since 1864."
THE BIGGER PICTURE: After a troubled start, Wrexham are gradually upping the ante in League Two. They have proven themselves under pressure and delivered some edge-of-the-seat thrillers with last-gasp goals and victories this season. Against Crawley Town, they showed immense resilience to defend their slender 1-0 lead while a man down, which led Reynolds to humorously claim that the club "is the leading cause of heart attacks in my chest".
Whereas, in their next matchday against Salford City, they overturned a 2-1 deficit with goals in the 88th and 89th minute to emerge triumphant over the David Beckham co-owned club, which must have again increased Reynold's heartbeat.
WHAT NEXT? Wrexham will be back in action against Notts County on Saturday in League Two.
