Inter Miami star Luis Suarez reveals desire to play another year with Lionel Messi, extend MLS contract past 2024

<p>Luis Suarez told media members at Inter Miami training Friday that he is looking to extend his stay in Inter Miami past 2024; when his contract ends.</p><p>"I know my lawyer is speaking with the club," Suárez<a href="https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/luis-suarez-open-to-inter-miami-return-in-2025-i-would-be-delighted" target="_self"> told reporters.</a> "I wanted to finish the best way possible, showing the club I have enthusiasm. I feel well physically and I have the desire to continue being a part of the history of this club."</p><p>The Uruguayan forward has had a brilliant debut season with the club, scoring 18 goals and recording seven assists in 26 matches; 20 of which he started.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Suarez, 37, has been a significant addition for the Herons since joining ahead of the 2024 season. He has 18 goals and seven assists in 28 appearances for the club. Still, there are going to various factors in getting an extension done. Wages to the length of contract will need to be agreed upon by both parties. </p><p></p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Suarez is in contention for the 2024 MLS Golden Boot award heading into the regular season finale. With one match left on the schedule, he trails league-leader Christian Benteke, who has 23. That means the Uruguayan would need an astounding five goals to draw level with him, or six to potentially win the award, Saturday evening.</p>
