Since that defeat, Alisson has been absent through illness and a subsequent hamstring injury. WHAT HAPPENED?

Speaking on Alisson's potential return, Klopp quashed hopes that he would be back soon. The Liverpool boss said: “There is no real timescale on it, but it is a proper muscle injury. It is not a short one. It is a rather serious one, but not a season-ending injury.”

WHAT KLOPP SAID

Kelleher can expect to remain in between the sticks for Liverpool for a while longer. The Republic of Ireland international has struggled for minutes in the Premier League, making just 10 appearances throughout his career. Now no longer limited to just cup appearances, Kelleher has seized his chance and earned his place in a run of games.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

As good as Kelleher has been, Klopp will be hoping his No.1 will return as soon as possible with every game in the title race crucial. Kelleher will remain in goal for Liverpool's game against Nottingham Forest as Alisson watches on from the sidelines.
