<p>Per <a href="https://www.blick.ch/fr/sport/football/jouera-t-il-au-bois-mermet-erling-haaland-risque-une-peine-de-prison-dans-le-canton-de-vaud-id20335088.html" target="_blank"><em>Blick</em></a>, Haaland could end up in trouble the next time he visits Switzerland. The Norwegian could spend a day in prison for non-payment of a fine. The news comes amid rumours of the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/pep-first-erling-haaland-next-man-city-prepare-100m-contract-package-star-striker/blt65c9b05ee6f0d0e5#cs3b0fa1d1d915bbae" target="_blank">striker penning a new long-term deal </a>with reigning English champions Manchester City that could see him earn more than £100 million ($125m) in wages.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The <em>Blick </em>report claims that the striker did not pay a driving fine for an offence in the country worth 60 francs which is around €65, a paltry sum, and now could end up in jail. However, Haaland could avoid the prison sentence by paying the amount to the authorities on his next visit to the country. Such a situation though is unlikely to happen as the fine amount is insignificant for a professional footballer of his stature.</p>

THE EXPLANATION

<p>Haaland's father, Alfie-Inge, left Norway in 2023 to live permanently in Switzerland. The player is likely to visit his father during Christmas and will aim to settle the legal issue.</p>
