Squash goals: NWSL players show out with some wicked Halloween costumes

The NWSL players did not come to play this Halloween, unless we’re talking about levels of creativity, which belong in a league of their own. Forget your basic costumes - these players pulled out all the stops from retro throwbacks to crazy art-inspired transformations. INDIVISA ranks the top five best NWSL Halloween costumes this year.

5. Chloe Ricketts as Soulja Boy

Chloe Ricketts came through, and she came hard, channeling peak 2007 with this Soulja Boy tribute. Baggy jeans? Check. Oversized red tee? Check. The sideways hat? Absolutely. The only thing we need now is a little Superman dance. Ricketts would totally crank that, and this is our petition for her to bring it back for her next goal celebration (third slide).

4. Sophie Schmidt as The Weeping Woman

This, ladies and gents, is The Weeping Woman, Sophia Scmidt edition. She really went there with this costume, transforming herself into Picasso's haunting masterpiece. The Dash midfielder turned into a living, breathing piece of art. It was bold, unsettling, and absolutely genius - seriously, it had us doing a double take. Leave it to Sophie to pull off a costume that’s as deep as it is dramatic.

3. Michelle Alozie as Cynthia

Have you ever seen a more pitch-perfect take on a 90s cartoon? Aloize nailed every detail of Cynthia’s look from Rugrats. No one can rock the wild, spiked hair and that iconic blank stare like her. Alozie knows how to add just the right touch of nostalgic chaos. Most iconic costume award, over here.

2. Courtnee Vine as Raygun

Courtnee Vine just hit Halloween with a power move, big-stepping as the legendary Australian b-girl, Raygun. The snapback is everything, and the outfit could not be any more accurate. Plus, if anyone can bring that unmistakable confidence, it’s Courtnee. Her attention to detail perfectly captured Raygun’s essence, and we’re obsessed.

1. Brianna Martinez as Seb Hines

Brianna Martinez? Seb Hines? Honestly, we can’t tell the difference. The Orlando Pride defender swept this Halloween ranking. I mean, how could you not with a spot-on impersonation like that? From the signature glasses to the drawn-on facial hair, she nailed this, serving up serious coach vibes in her Orlando Pride quarter-zip and shorts. Not to mention the dedication to capturing Seb’s energy, unmatched. Top marks for the laughs and ultimate team spirit.

Halloween isn’t just for tricks and treats – it’s the NWSL’s stage. Who knew?
