Archie Gray: Leeds reject Brentford offer despite teenager undergoing medical with Chelsea and Tottenham ready to enter transfer race

<p>Leeds need to sell players to comply with profit and sustainability rules, and Gray is wanted by numerous Premier League clubs. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-beaten-archie-gray-medical-brentford-35m-transfer-leeds/blta4c6b7a43dbed2a0" target="_blank">Brentford made a bid worth £40m</a>, and the midfielder underwent a medical, but the two parties could not agree on a payment schedule, and the offer has now been officially rebuffed.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/archie-gray-liverpool-linked-leeds-united-sensation-ran-rings-around-moises-caicedo/blta65277bec5b7b1c8" target="_blank">Gray is just 18</a> and is an England U21 international who has developed into a key player at Elland Road, already clocking over 50 first-team appearances for the club. That has led to interest from Chelsea and Spurs, and there is the potential of a new approach being submitted to the Championship club.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Gray is a versatile figure who can play in multiple midfield positions, as well as at right-back. Leeds may also be forced to sell Crysencio Summerville, who is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/crysencio-summerville-chelsea-interested-leeds-winger-asking-price-revealed/bltd336fafb60555c6f" target="_blank">attracting interest from Chelsea and Liverpool</a>.</p>

<p>Gray's future remains up in the air but Leeds have a degree of fee protection, as the teenager has a contract with the club until 2028. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5605248/2024/06/30/archie-gray-tottenham/" target="_blank">The Athletic</a> have reported that Spurs have entered talks with the Whites following the collapse of the Brentford deal. </p>
