The 25-year-old midfielder, who has been a key player for the Ligue 1 side, is now on the radar of several high-profile teams. Monaco could let him go for a cut-price of £20 million ($25m) as his contract is expiring in 2025.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As Fofana prepares for Euro 2024 with the French national team, he took the opportunity to discuss his future during a press conference. "I have spoken about it with the hierarchy, it isn’t a secret," Fofana said. "We had exchanges and they agreed to accompany me in this new stage. If [a move] doesn’t happen, I still have a year left and I will be happy to stay. We were in agreement that we would accompany each other in this process in which everyone should be a winner, be it me or the club."

WHAT FOFANA SAID

The news of Fofana’s availability has put several top clubs on high alert. Arsenal, in particular, are keen to strengthen their midfield, especially with the possibility of Thomas Partey leaving. The Gunners are also eyeing Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes as a potential addition. United, on the other hand, are looking to fill the gap left by Sofyan Amrabat, whose loan from Fiorentina has expired. AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation closely, aware of the opportunity to secure a talented player at a reasonable price.

Thiago Scuro, the CEO of AS Monaco, has confirmed the club's openness to offers for Fofana. "There were good opportunities for him to leave last summer," Scuro told GFFN last month. "It was his decision to stay because of his personal goals. It was a very good decision for us because he had a very good and consistent season, for him too as it was probably his best season at Monaco. He is probably one of the players that we are open to selling. We will see the opportunities that he has. It is still too early to make a decision."Known for his strong defensive capabilities, excellent ball distribution and tactical awareness, Fofana has consistently demonstrated his ability to perform at a high level. His versatility allows him to play in various midfield roles, making him an attractive prospect for teams looking to bolster their squads.
