<p>According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5564375/2024/06/14/reiss-nelson-arsenal-future/" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a><em>, </em>the 24-year-old has<a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/reiss-nelson-stay-arsenal-out-of-favour-message-addresses-future-january-transfer-window/blt61222ec59babe9ea" target="_blank"> informed the Gunners of his desire to explore potential </a>transfer options this summer in search of a more prominent role elsewhere. Nelson, who signed a new contract with Arsenal last July, is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/reiss-nelson-signs-four-year-contract-arsenal/blta0e242d813311062" target="_blank">committed to the club until June 2027, </a>with an option to extend for an additional 12 months. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Despite committing his long-term future to Arsenal, Nelson remains open for a future away from the Emirates as he has yet to win the trust of Mikel Arteta - which saw him earn just over 700 minutes across all competitions this season. Several clubs expressed interest in Nelson during the January transfer window, but Arsenal rejected these approaches as they were still competing on multiple fronts, including the Premier League and the Champions League as the manager wanted him as a potential backup in case of any injuries.  </p>

<p>Arsenal is reportedly open to letting Nelson leave this summer if a suitable offer comes in. The club is seeking a fee in the region of £20 million, including add-ons, for the academy graduate. His journey with Arsenal began at a young age, joining the club's academy and working his way through the ranks. He made his senior debut in 2017 and has since had loan spells at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie. </p>
