Now, Cruz Azul has a shot at redemption, this time in the Champions Cup, and that’s exactly how it’s being viewed inside the La Máquina locker room.“We’ve had some very intense matches where we didn’t come out on top. Tomorrow is a chance for revenge - that’s how I see it personally. I know we’re prepared, and this is an opportunity for us to make our mark as a team, as players, and as a club,” Cruz Azul striker Ángel Sepúlveda said during Monday’s press conference.The match will be played at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, which Cruz Azul are renting from Pumas to use as their home ground this season. It’s still unclear where Vicente Sánchez’s team will play next season, though there are talks of a possible move to Puebla’s Estadio Cuauhtémoc for the Apertura 2025.Under Sánchez, Cruz Azul is on a nine-game unbeaten run, but history favors the Azulcremas, who have only lost once to La Máquina in their last 10 meetings.
