<p>Tottenham have confirmed Gray's arrival on a six-year contract, while Leeds have released their own statement expressing their sadness over his exit. "Everyone at Leeds United is heartbroken to see one of our own depart and would like to thank Archie for all his efforts and professionalism," a statement on the club's website reads. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5605316/2024/07/02/archie-gray-tottenham-transfer-leeds-rodon/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=twitterfc&amp;source=twitteruk" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a>, Spurs believe they are paying £30m for Gray, with Joe Rodon heading to Leeds for £10m as part of the agreement. </p><p>Tottenham have said of their capture of one of English football's brightest young talents: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United. The versatile midfielder has signed a contract that will run until 2030 and will wear the number 14 shirt."</p>

WHAT SPURS SAID

<p>Gray enjoyed a superb breakthrough season at Leeds in 2023-24, racking up 47 Championship appearances to help Daniel Farke's team make it to the play-off final, which they ultimately lost against Southampton. Gray was also strongly linked with Chelsea and Brentford, but has opted to continue his development under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Gray is likely to join up with his new team-mates for <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/spurs-pre-season-2024-tour-fixtures-results-tickets-watch/bltc6295c77166e661f#csf637127000033f13" target="_blank">Spurs' pre-season tour of Asia</a> at the end of the month, with friendlies against Vissel Kobe and Bayern Munich pencilled in. Postecoglou's side will open their new Premier League campaign away at newly promoted Leicester on August 19, and Gray will hope to take his top-flight bow at the King Power Stadium.</p>
