<p>Messi's barber in Miami posted an image of the Argentina hero sporting his new look a day before the ceremony takes place. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Messi heads back to Paris hoping to collect a record-extending eighth Ballon d'Or trophy. He is one of the favourites to win the prize after guiding Argentina to World Cup success in Qatar last year.</p><p>However, he faces a challenge from Manchester City sensation Erling Haaland, who helped fire his team to the Eurpoean and English treble, while France and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe is also in the frame.</p><p>The voting between the three stars was described by one of the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/lionel-messi-erling-haaland-ballon-dor-votes-very-tight/blte9868b87e854c4bc" target="_blank">event organisers as "very, very tight".</a></p>
