Now, <a href="https://sport.sky.de/fussball/artikel/borussia-dortmund-und-bayer-leverkusen-an-james-mcatee-von-manchester-city-interessiert/13283266/34130" target="_blank"><em>Sky Germany</em></a> reports that there is interest from both Dortmund and Leverkusen in signing the attacking midfielder.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Dortmund are said to be discussing the potential of launching a bid for the England Under 21 international in January; they are interested in signing him on loan with an option to buy in the summer. Leverkusen are also interested as they try to source a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/florian-wirtz-bruno-guimaraes-manchester-city-transfer-wishlist-pep-guardiola/bltb61859a7a5d969f5" target="_blank">who has been linked with a move to City himself</a>.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>McAtee's contract expires in 2026 so time is running out for City to receive a decent fee for the 22-year-old. It remains to be seen if their resolve is tested in January. </p>
